Introduction:

This book presents a collective portrait of the women from Sichuan who participated in the Long March. It systematically explores their journey and revolutionary contributions through three key dimensions: Origins—The background of Sichuanese female Red Army soldiers on the eve of the Long March. Journey—Their experiences across different main forces during the Long March. Legacy—Their role in the Western Expedition of the Red Army’s West Route Army.

Comprising over 90% of all female Long March participants, these women not only embodied the resilience of the Long March spirit but also expanded its legacy through their heroism. The book vividly captures their indomitable images as revolutionary pioneers, complemented by rare archival photographs that enrich the narrative.

Meticulously researched, this work serves as both a historical record and a tribute, offering robust historical material to perpetuate the enduring spirit of the Long March.
