Detail

Introduction:
This book is a compassionate work by the scholar Qian Liqun, and focuses on more than twenty of the most representative and influential literary scholars in the field of modern Chinese literature. Qian believes that, in a certain sense, the influence of "scholars" is more important, and more fundamental than the transmission of "learning".
The book is divided into five parts, ranging from "The Style of Historians", "The Scale of Human", "The Construction of Tradition", "Contemporaries" and "Reminiscences, Memories and Blessings". The book reviews and recalls the first generation of scholars in the discipline of modern Chinese literature, including Wang Yao, Lin Geng, Jia Zhifang and Qian Gurong, the second generation of scholars, including Yan Jiayan, Fan Jun and Sun Yushi, and the contemporaries of the writer, including Wang Furen and Zhao Yuan. These scholars, who have become more innocent through their trials and tribulations, show us that in this 'noisy world', there is still a 'submergence of life and scholarship'.
