《中国人口发展史》是知名学者葛剑雄教授研究中国人口发展的学术专著。正如葛剑雄先生所述：“就像国民应该了解自己国家的历史一样，中国公民都应该了解中国人口发展的历史。”本书通过爬梳史料，详细论述了中国两千多年间的人口现象、人口变化发展的过程及其原因，总结了其中的规律。全书分为上、中、下编，上编主要论述历代人口调查制度的起源、演变和发展，并对历史人口资料做了相应评价；中编以时间为脉络，分章具体阐述了先秦至清朝的人口发展情况，并剖析了人口数量变化的特点、原因；下编则从人口的构成与再生产、人口的分布及迁移等方面做相关交代。在历史的回溯与重建中，本书既能使读者对中国人口发展的全过程有整体了解，从而进一步理解现在，思索未来；同时也能为历史学、民族学、考古学、社会学、地理学等各相关学科提供有利条件。

作者简介：

葛剑雄：祖籍浙江绍兴，1945年生于浙江吴兴县南浔镇（今属湖州市南浔区）。19651978年任中学老师。1978年考入复旦大学历史系历史地理专业研究生，师从谭其骧教授，1983年在职获历史学博士学位。1991年晋升教授，19962007年任复旦大学中国历史地理研究所所长，1999年2007年任历史地理研究中心主任，20072014年任复旦大学图书馆长。现为复旦大学资深教授，教育部社会科学委员会历史学部委员，中央文史研究馆馆员。

Introduction:

This book is an academic monograph on China's demographic development by renowned scholar Professor Ge Jianxiong. By combing through historical materials, this book discusses in detail the demographic phenomena, the process of demographic change and development in China over the past two thousand years and its causes, and summarizes the laws involved. In the course of historical retracing and reconstruction, this book will enable readers to have an overall understanding of the whole process of China's population development, that the reader can further understand the present and contemplate the future; at the same time, it will also provide advantages for various related disciplines such as history, ethnography, archaeology, sociology and geography.

About the Author:

Ge Jianxiong is a senior professor at Fudan University, a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education's Department of History, and a member of the Central Research Institute of Literature and History.
